Research Guides

Rather than creating videos exclusively, I have worked to incorporate text, video, audio, images and even mini courses into learning guides. These guides enable learners, to learn in their own way and at their own pace. They also allow for slow internet connections and quick browsing.

Collaborative Guides & Courses

I have either updated a portion of these guides, worked on part of, or added a webinars tab with a downloadable pdf of the slides and most recent webinar recordings as well as recordings that include updated closed captions and time stamps to jump ahead. Sending learners to this page for a recording rather than to a webinars page allows for serendipitous learning of more related fields.

These videos are included in many of the research guides, or will be in the future. These are only relevant with the current library website, and the intention of changing this website has put the brakes on me creating more.

As my reference work often involves answering similar research queries I have created templates for common questions, but have realized that having quick FAQs to refer students to for some of the advanced common questions is extremely useful. These are always works in progress but provide some easy to share answers that all staff on the library help desk can use.

Part of my position has involved promoting the library. I have spearheaded and chair a social media committee.

I made the initial move to anonymizing students names, and moving the recordings to YouTube for increased quality, accessibility and use-ablity. I have worked to create time stamps and edit closed captions.
